The Wines of Domaine Rière Cadène: An Exceptional Terroir

Domaine Rière Cadène is a 30-hectare family estate located in Perpignan, in the Occitanie region. With over 118 years of history, this estate has become a producer of quality wines thanks to the expertise of its winegrowers and the richness of its terroir.

Located 13 kilometres east of the Mediterranean Sea, the estate enjoys a Mediterranean climate with mild winters, a dry spring and hot, dry summers. The tramontane, a north-westerly wind, brings coolness in summer and accentuates the cold in winter, making it possible to produce wines of great quality.

The estate's soils are composed of limestone, white schist from Calce, black schist from the Agly valley and rolled pebbles from the Têt. This unique combination of soils makes it possible to produce exceptional red and white wines. The white grape varieties grow on schist and black marl from Espira-de-l'Agly, while the reds are produced on the limestone terraces of Calce and the rolled pebbles of the Têt.

At Domaine Rière Cadène, respect for the environment is a priority. Long before its Organic Agriculture certification in 2016, the estate practised reasoned agriculture by limiting inputs and respecting natural cycles. This is also reflected in the work in the cellar, where vinification is traditional, without the use of chemicals and with limited sulphite addition.

The estate's vines date from 1955 for the Carignan, and 1972 for the Grenache and Syrah, and are located in the AOP Côtes du Roussillon, Côtes du Roussillon Villages and Rivesaltes areas, as well as IGP Côtes Catalanes and Vin de France. All work across the 30 hectares of vines is done by hand and yields are voluntarily limited to 18 hectolitres per hectare to convey all the singularity of the terroir and its vineyard.

In conclusion, Domaine Rière Cadène is a producer of exceptionally high-quality wines that respects the environment and tradition. The unique combination of its terroir, its climate and its expertise makes its wines exceptional products for lovers of quality wines.
